Experience the Sporades

Sailing holidays from Volos & the Sporades

Volos, in central Greece, is a perfect starting point for sailing holidays in the scenic Sporades archipelago — known for its clear waters, untouched landscapes and charming islands like Skiathos, Skopelos and Alonissos.

Each island has its own appeal, from lush greenery to picturesque villages and beautiful beaches. The southern route offers more sheltered ports, so the area suits novice and experienced sailors alike.

Season, winds & getting here

  • Season: April – October

The charter season in Greece runs from April to October. Spring and autumn are mild and quiet; July and August are the hottest months.

July and August often reach 30–35 °C and occasionally over 40 °C during heatwaves — Aria is fully air-conditioned.

Northerly winds, including the strong Meltemi, give excellent sailing; the southerly Sirocco appears early and late in the season.

  • Fly to Volos

A week is enough to reach Alonissos and back; two weeks let you explore further, to Skyros and Evia. Departures from Skiathos also give quick access to the main islands and the marine park.
